ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Critical and Intensive Care Department at the Armed Forces Hospital in Alexandria provides integrated care 24 hours a day,7 days a week

SERVICES

The department consists of 47 beds equipped with the highest level of international standards and contains 37 ventilators divided into :

  • 40 beds in the general intensive care unit .
  • 4 beds in emergency ICU.
  • 3 beds inintermediate careunit.
  • The Department of Critical Care and Hospital Care is characterized by the presence of an ECMO lung prosthetic device for acute respiratory failure cases that are not responsive to ventilators.
  • Service for dealing with cases of Recent cerebrovascular strokes.
  • Four highly efficient hemodialysis machines to deal with critical care caseswithout the need to transfer them to the main Hemodialysis unit of the hospital.
  • Intensive care provides all the required interventions for patients (regular-advanced) using regular x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopes.

Medical Staff :

  • Care is supervised by consultants and specialists from the Armed Forces in cooperation with professors from the Department of Critical Cases, Alexandria University.
  • The medical team also includes a team of clinical pharmacists to review, follow up and raise awareness of the rest of the medical staff regarding medications, their dosage and interaction.

Training :

  • There is a team for continuous medical education andtraining in order to train and daily follow up the rest of the staff members in the intensive care and provide educational and training content to raise the efficiency of the medical staff.
